Community Programs

We adopt community projects that will support families, build community, develop facilities with programs for youth, promote wellness for seniors, strengthen local youth and adult sports leagues and champion early childhood development. Our focus is widespread because there are so many needs facing communities throughout the county and the country.
Children and Youth who regularly attend quality afterschool programs have better grades and conduct in school; more academic and enrichment opportunities; better peer relations, emotional adjustment and lower incidences of drug-use, violence and pregnancy. Families need routines and rituals that are important to health and well-being as they try to meet the busy demands of juggling work and home. Family routines and rituals are powerful organizers of family life that offer stability during times of stress and transition. Seniors know that successful aging is a process, rather than an outcome - a way of doing and being. Staying involved in the outside world is important. Those who are aging successfully are widely engaged in a variety of activities including paid or volunteer work, taking classes or participating in cultural activities. |
